Charleston Ocean Racing Association

The Charleston Ocean Racing Association (CORA) was formed in 1967, and organizes and conducts yacht racing year round in Charleston's historic harbor and its offshore waters. The primary goal of CORA is to promote competitive sailing in Charleston, to encourage good fellowship among yachtsmen, afloat and ashore, to assist yacht owners to obtain competent and congenial crew, and to assist its non-yacht owning members to obtain crewing positions on CORA racing boats

2018 South Carolina Leukemia Cup Regatta

The 22nd Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta will be held in Charleston Harbor on Saturday, September 29th.  This important fundraising event organized jointly by CORA and the local Charleston Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a must-do event.  With over 25 racing yachts already entered, the competition will be keen.  The race will be Pursuit-style around Shutes Folly island, with first start at 11:00, and with the start/finish line in the vicinity of the USS Yorktown.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS WIL BE POSTED SOON

The after-race fundraising event will take place on the USS Yorktown, starting at 6:30PM (doors open at 6).  Tickets can be purchased using this form or at the event.

Alice Cup Race to Rockville

NOTICE OF RACE

CORA will conduct the sixth race of the Quantum Offshore Challenge Series with the Alice Cup on October 6-7.  The race to Rockville will be Saturday, October 6th with a Pursuit style race with first start at 09:00.  The race back to Charleston will be Sunday 7th, with a regular Class start with first start at 09:00.

Sea Island Yacht Club has graciously offered to host the after-race party again, and the neighboring community has offered their dockage to CORA competitors free of charge.  A docking plan will be issued to boats indicating they will be entering this race.  A BBQ dinner will be catered and available free to CORA members, and $20 for non-members.  SIYC will have a cash only bar open during the party, which will officially get underway at 17:00.  Live music will add to the festivities.
